Every wedding dress we order for you runs on one written agreement and a clock you can read.

These terms take effect on September 30, 2026. That is also the date of the last amendment. If you placed an order before that date, the written order agreement you signed at the boutique still governs that order; these terms fill the gaps it leaves.

Using the site, sending an inquiry or opening the chat means you accept these terms as they stand on the day you do it.

These terms are between you and Thedresstheory, trading as The Dress Theory at thedresstheory.us. We are a bridal boutique at 1423 N 45th St, Seattle, Washington 98103, United States, on the Wallingford stretch of 45th.

You can reach us on +1 206-550-7948 or at [email protected]. When these terms say "we" or "us", they mean the boutique. When they say "you", they mean the person using the site or placing the order. If someone else pays for the gown, the bride is still the person we fit and the person we take instructions from on size and alterations.

This site shows the designer wedding dresses we carry, explains how we buy them and lets you ask for a bridal appointment in Seattle. An inquiry form and a support chat are the only two things on it that send us anything. That is the whole of it.

We pay for clicks to this site through Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising, and we run campaigns on Meta Ads. Those platforms add a click identifier to the address you arrive on: gclid from Google, msclkid from Microsoft, fbclid from Meta. Consent Mode v2 holds ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage denied until you allow storage in the cookie banner, and sets them back to denied the moment you decline or withdraw. How that works in detail is in the cookie statement and the privacy notice. No advertising platform has reviewed or approved this site, and nothing here should be read as saying one has.

It does not sell anything. There is no account to open, no password, no cart and no way to pay. It does not measure you, and a gown cannot be sized from a photograph or a list of numbers sent by email. Size is decided on your body, in the salon, with a tape and a sample on.

The photographs in the collection are studio studies of each gown family. Colour on a screen is not colour in silk. Ivory on your phone can read as white, and Mikado under north light looks different from Mikado under a tungsten bulb. Come and see the fabric before you decide anything.

Nothing is sold or paid for on this site. When you send the form or write in the chat, you are asking a question or asking for an appointment. No contract exists at that point and neither of us owes the other anything.

Any figure you see on the site, or that we mention in a reply, is an estimate and not a binding quote. We do not call a price final over email. That is deliberate: the number moves with the size ordered, the options the designer offers on that gown and the alterations your body needs.

An inquiry becomes an order in the boutique, not before. It goes like this:

1. You come to a first appointment, about 90 minutes, and try gowns on.
2. You choose a gown. We take measurements and agree the size to order with you, against the designer's own size chart.
3. We write out the gown, size, colour, any options, the price and the payment schedule on an order agreement.
4. You read it, sign it and pay what it says is due at signing, at the boutique.
5. Only then do we place the order with the designer.

If you have not signed an order agreement, you have not ordered a gown. If a chat message says otherwise, the written agreement wins.

Every gown is priced per gown in US dollars, quoted at your appointment for your size and the options you choose. Alterations are quoted separately, in writing, once the gown has arrived and we have it on you. The price on the tag is where the conversation starts.

What changes the price of the gown itself:

• Size. Some designers charge more above or below their standard size run.
• Options the designer offers, such as a different sleeve, a longer train, an added lining or a change of lace placement.
• Rush production, where a designer will do it at all. They charge for it and we pass that charge on, stated on the order agreement.

What changes the alterations quote: how far the gown has to move to fit you, the fabric (hemming a horsehair-braid organza skirt is a different job from hemming silk crepe), and how close to the wedding the work has to be done. Work squeezed into the final weeks costs more. That is the rush fee we see brides pay most often, and it is almost always avoidable by ordering earlier.

Sales tax applies at the Washington rate in force on the day you pay and is shown on your receipt. Once an order agreement is signed, the gown price on it does not change unless you change the order.

Order eight to ten months before the wedding. Six is possible. Four costs you in rush alterations. Most of the gowns we carry are made to order in the designer's own workroom, and the designer's production time is theirs, not ours. We give you the usual range for that gown when you order and write it on the agreement as an estimate.

The amount due when you sign, and when the balance falls due, are set out on your order agreement. Payment is taken at the boutique. We never ask for card details by email, by chat or through this site, and if anyone claiming to be us does, do not send them.

Once we have placed an order with the designer, the designer starts cutting fabric for you. For that reason a signed order cannot normally be cancelled for a refund of money already paid. If you need to change the order, call us the same day. Some changes are possible before the designer cuts; after it, they usually are not.

If the timeline for your date does not work, we say so at the first appointment and we will not take the order on a promise we cannot keep. We would rather lose the sale than hand you a gown three days before the wedding.

Your first fitting is 8 to 12 weeks before the wedding. Your final fitting is 2 to 3 weeks before it. Most gowns take two or three fittings between those points. A heavily beaded tulle bodice can take more, because beads have to be removed by hand along a seam line and reset after the seam moves.

At the first fitting we pin the gown on you and give you a written alterations quote. Work starts when you accept it. If your body changes a good deal between fittings, the quote can change, and we tell you in writing before doing the extra work.

Bring the shoes and the underwear you will wear on the day to every fitting. A hem set in flats and worn in a three-inch heel is the most common alteration we redo.

After the final fitting the gown is pressed and ready for collection. We store it for you until the agreed collection date. Once you collect it, it is in your care.

When your gown arrives from the designer we open it, check it against your order agreement and put it on a form before we call you. Here is exactly what the guarantee covers.

Where we raise a problem with a designer, the remedy is the designer's: a correction, a remake or a replacement, depending on the fault and the time left. We tell you what they offer, in writing, the day they tell us. Nothing in this guarantee takes away rights you have under Washington consumer law.

We keep records for fixed periods, then delete them. The detail of what is collected, who receives it and your rights over it is in the privacy notice; cookies and the consent choice are in the cookie statement. The clocks are here because they are part of what you agree to.

Paid orders are kept under a separate written order agreement and the tax records the law requires; those are paper and sales records at the boutique, not website data. To make a data request, use the route in the privacy notice or write to [email protected].

Use the site to look at gowns and talk to us. Please do not:

• send inquiries in someone else's name, or with contact details that are not yours to give;
• use the form or the chat to advertise, to send bulk messages or to send anything abusive to our staff;
• try to reach parts of the site that are not linked from its pages, probe it for weaknesses, or load it with automated traffic;
• scrape the photographs or the gown descriptions to resell, to train software on or to list the gowns elsewhere;
• upload or paste code, links to malware or anything unlawful into a message.

The form carries basic spam checks. A message that trips them may never reach us. If you think that has happened, call.

The text, the photographs, the page design and The Dress Theory name and logo belong to Thedresstheory or are used with permission. The gown designs belong to their designers. You may share a link to a page or save a picture for your own planning, such as showing your mother the Chantilly Sheath. You may not copy the pages, republish the photographs or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse something.

If you send us a photograph of a gown you like, you keep the rights to it. We use it only to answer you.

The site is provided as it is and as available. We write the gown descriptions, fabric notes and lead-time ranges carefully and from first-hand handling, but they describe a gown family, not your gown. Designers change a lace, discontinue a colour or alter a bodice between seasons, and we may not have updated the page yet.

We do not warrant that the site will always be online, that it is free of every error, or that a message sent through it will arrive. Timelines on the site are the usual range, not a promise. The only promises we make about a gown are the ones written on your signed order agreement and in the order guarantee above.

The site is free to use. For anything arising from using it, including a message that did not arrive or a page that was out of date, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to 100 US dollars.

For a gown, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us under the order agreement for that gown and its alterations. We are not liable for costs outside that, such as travel, a photographer or a venue, where the loss comes from a designer's delay we have told you about.

None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else Washington law does not allow a business to exclude.

We can block an address, close a chat, decline an appointment or stop answering where someone breaks the acceptable use rules, sends abuse to our staff, or uses the site to harm it or other people. We can also take the site or any part of it offline for maintenance or for good.

Withdrawing site access does not cancel a signed order. An order is ended only as its written agreement allows, or by agreement between us, or where the law gives either of us the right to end it.

These terms and any order placed with us run under the law of Washington, United States. A dispute that we cannot settle by talking is heard in the courts of Seattle.

When we change these terms we publish the new version on this page, change the effective date and the last amendment date at the top of it and on the rail, and say in a line under the page heading what changed. A change applies from its new effective date. It never rewrites a signed order agreement; that stays as signed.

If a change affects a customer with an open order in a way that matters, we tell them by email or phone as well.
